How easily we say these two words to our dear ones.
We say others to take good care of themselves and when they actually do take care of them, we call them selfish or self-centered.
If someone takes care of themselves, is it selfish?
Self-care isn’t selfish.
It is one’s responsibility to do what is best for them.
When you do take care and love yourself, you can take care of others too and give all the love you have.
“You can’t pour from an empty cup,
Take care of yourself first.”
If you’re empty inside how you expect to love and care for your dear ones? There’s a beautiful quote by Katrina Mayer ~
Loving yourself isn’t vanity, it’s sanity.
When you focus on yourself you know what you need, is it love you need or is it attention or anything else.. whatever you need is already within you.
So before you look in others for these things or ask them to give and get disappointed if they refuse or couldn’t give, look inside you’ll get everything you’re looking for.
There is nothing outside, everything is within you.
Seek nothing outside everything you need your courage, strength, compassion, and love. You already have all. You just have to make a choice every single day that either you will work on caring for your mind and body or you let the chaos or situations disturb your inner peace.
And I hope you make the choice to take care and love yourself every single day and will put yourself at the top of your to-do list. And in the process, you can do all the things that make you feel better like –
- Ignoring that call/text conversation that makes you feel uncomfortable.
- Avoid meeting toxic people.
- Eating unhealthy food.
- Not watching that series or movie that everyone is watching around you.
- Unfollowing or blocking anyone that makes you feel bad about your own self or etc.
Never feel bad for doing what’s best for you.
Take care of yourself physically, emotionally, spiritually, intellectually, sensory, and socially.
Talk to yourself like someone you love. And let me remind you that self-care is not only about saunas, bubble baths, scented candles, relaxing, spas, and all the other things like that.
It’s also about forgiving yourself, learning from your past, getting up again, never giving up, focusing on bettering yourself, not being hard on yourself, believing in yourself, working on your goals, etc.
It’s not selfish to take good care of yourself, it’s selfish when you hurt others or take advantage of someone else for your benefit.. when you do things like that, then you are selfish. Remember if you can’t take good care of yourself then you can’t take good care of your loved ones too. So, think about it.
And you yourself as much as the people you love deserve your love, attention, and care.. and if you don’t take care of yourself.. then who else will?
Keep smiling 😋
Stay blessed 🌼
